Weekly Car Rentals

Car rentals provide for the easy and cheaper way to commute than buying a car. With the numerous car rental agencies that are in the country, the rates of car rentals are growing. Different car rental companies have different rates for similar types of cars. However, some cars that one car agency may consider as "midsize", another car agency may categorize a similar type of car as a "Luxury" car. This is just an example to show the variation in the rental rates of vehicles so that the customer becomes aware of the difference and try to do up some research on the agencies before committing oneself to a rental. There are, of course, the basic requirements that one must meet before being able to rent a car. These requirements may vary from place to place and from agency to agency. Some of these basic requirements are things like meeting the minimum age to be able to rent a car, having a good driving record for some agencies, some may require having a good credit rating and others.

Once one is informed of the rates and of the kind of vehicle that one needs, one has to make the decision on when one will need it, from whom one has to rent it, for how long one will be renting it, etc. Make it a point to ask about special deals and discounts that the agency has to offer. Agencies like Avis give thirty percent off in weekly rentals. Generally these kinds of offers pertain to a certain category of cars such as full size cars, premium cars, SUVs, convertibles and vans. The charges that are taken off these offers apply to the time and mileage fees only on a minimum of five-day rental. Advanced reservation has to be done if one wants to avail such kinds of schemes. These offers are subject to vehicle availability at the time of rental and may not be available on some rates at some times. The renter has to meet the agency's minimum age requirement; driver and credit requirements though the minimum age may vary from location. Most offers like this are valid at the participating branches of the same agency. Taxes, concession recovery fees, vehicle license recovery fee, customer facility charges and fuel charges are usually extra. Some agencies add an additional surcharge for drivers that are below the age of 25.

There are also other insurances and schemes that the car rental company offers its customers. To name some, they are damage deposits, airport surcharges, additional driver fees, drop-off fees and Collision Damage Waiver fees. Rental cars are popular especially for out-of-towners who are on a visit to a place.
